General Discussion / New Redskins Stadium Announcement Likely
« on: January 17, 2020, 01:58:31 pm »
KANSAS CITY Montez Sweat Jersey , Mo. (AP) — Orlando Scandrick was on a plane headed home for a last-minute visit with his family when the Kansas City Chiefs played the Atlanta Falcons in their second preseason game last week.He didn’t get to see another shaky performance by their secondary until reporting to his new team. Now the veteran cornerback who spent nearly a decade with the Dallas Cowboys and was recently cut loose by the Washington Redskins will try to help patch it up. The Chiefs signed the 31-year-old Scandrick over the weekend in the hopes he can stabilize one of their biggest areas of need.“I’m just trying to find my way around right now. I’ve only been here a few days,” he said with a smile Monday. “I’m doing a whole lot of listening and not a lot of talking.”Scandrick won’t have a whole lot of time to get up to speed. The Chiefs visit the Chicago Bears this weekend for their third preseason game, then have a quick turnaround before their preseason finale.Their regular-season opener is a mere three weeks away.“After being in the league for 10 years, there’s only so many coverages a team can run, only so many philosophies,” He said. “I’m just trying to learn the terminology right now.”Chiefs general manager Brett Veach has been a bit uncertain of his defensive backfield since the start of training camp, when they had Bashaud Breeland in for an extended visit. But Veach didn’t pull the trigger on a veteran addition until signing Scandrick last week.“You can’t have enough corners, so Brett’s kept his eyes open, brought a couple in,” Chiefs coach Andy Reid said. “This one, he felt comfortable.”Finances were a big part of it — the cash-strapped Chiefs would only owe him $1.5 million for the upcoming season — but so was were injuries and underwhelming performances early in camp. The Chiefs lost Daniel Sorensen for at least the start of the season after the safety broke a bone in his shin. They are also without cornerback Steven Nelson — expected to start opposite new arrival Kendall Fuller — after he sustained a concussion in their preseason opener.A lingering heel injury has forced Eric Berry to the sideline the past couple of weeks, and the trade of Marcus Peters to the Los Angeles Rams this year has made a secondary that struggled last season potentially worse.“The big thing for us is just communicating and being on the same page and at the end of the day, making plays on the ball,” said Fuller, who arrived in the trade for Alex Smith. “As a DB, the more plays on the ball that you make, the better the opportunity you give your team to win.”The Chiefs hope Scandrick can help make some of those plays. They hope Berry can, too.The perennial Pro Bowl safety missed almost all of last season with a torn Achilles tendon, but he appeared ahead of schedule in his recovery when he participated in the offseason program. Berry also was on the practice fields of Missouri Western State University for the start of training camp, which Chiefs fans took as a good omen for the upcoming season. Then he began sitting out practices with a heel injury. And so far, the injury has caused Berry to miss enough time that many are wondering whether there is something more serious afoot.“I just don’t want to go backward. That’s what I don’t want to do Wes Martin Jersey ,” Reid said between Monday’s morning walk-through and an afternoon practice. “I’m OK with it. He’s far enough long. … I just have to monitor it and see where he’s at. I’m comfortable where he’s going with this thing.”Notes: DL Allen Bailey (knee strain) and OG Laurent Duvernay-Tardiff (concussion) joined Nelson and Berry in sitting out Monday’s practice. … RB Charcandrick West participated in some of the workout for the first time in several weeks after dealing with a concussion. “He feels good. The docs say he’s OK,” Reid said. “We’re in pads today, be helpful to see him move around.” A collection of Redskins articles from around the web" />Skip to main contentclockmenumore-arrownoyesHogs Haven homepageHorizontal - WhiteHogs Havena Washington Redskins communityFollow Hogs Haven online:Follow Hogs Haven on TwitterFollow Hogs Haven on FacebookLog in or sign upLog InSign UpSite searchSearchSearchHogs Haven main menuFanpostsFanshotsSectionsRedskinsMastheadOddsShopCommunity GuidelinesStubHubMoreAll 321 blogs on Horizontal - WhiteFanposts Fanshots Sections Looks Like Someone Has A Sixpack Of The MondaysDaily SlopRedskins RecapsEDTShare this storyShare this on FacebookShare this on TwitterShareAll sharing optionsShareAll sharing options for:Daily Slop: Morgan Moses explains he expects Trent Williams to return; Trey Quinn doesn’t ‘like’ Jay Gruden’s praise at training campTwitterFacebookRedditPocketFlipboardEmailPhoto by Scott Taetsch/Getty ImagesHandicapping the Redskins' wide-open quarterback race - NFC East- ESPNWashington's QBs have embraced the competition for the starting job. LONDON (AP) — Carson Wentz threw three touchdown passes to different players as the Philadelphia Eagles defeated the Jacksonville Jaguars 24-18 at Wembley Stadium on Sunday.Tight end Dallas Goedert caught one of the touchdown passes in the first half Jerome Bettis Jersey White , and running back Wendell Smallwood and tight end Zach Ertz scored theirs in the second half for the Eagles (4-4), making their first appearance in England.Blake Bortles, restored as the starter despite being pulled in a loss to the Houston Texans a week earlier, completed 24 of 41 passes for 286 yards for the slumping Jaguars (3-5), who lost their fourth consecutive game.Despite Jacksonville’s familiarity with playing in England — it was the Jags’ sixth consecutive year of playing overseas, and they had won their last three — the record crowd of 85,870 formed a decidedly pro-Eagles crowd.Philadelphia lost 2017 All-Pro RT Lane Johnson injured his left knee on the Eagles’ opening drive and did not return.PANTHERS 36, RAVENS 21CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Cam Newton torched the league’s No. 1-ranked defense, completing 21 of 29 passes for 219 yards and two touchdowns and running for 52 yards and another score.Christian McCaffrey had two touchdowns and electrifying rookie wide receiver D.J. Moore turned in his best game as a pro with 129 yards from scrimmage as the Panthers won their ninth straight game at home.Trailing 7-0 early, the Panthers (5-2) scored on four straight possessions in the final 16 minutes of the first half to break open the game and take a 24-7 halftime lead.Newton threw an 11-yard TD pass to Greg Olsen , McCaffrey ran for an 11-yard score and caught a 6-yard TD pass that ricocheted off the hands of safety Eric Weddle and into his arms in the end zone. After the Ravens (4-4) climbed within 13 on Joe Flacco’s TD pass to Javorius Allen, Newton calmly drove the Panthers 85 yards in nine plays and scored from 12 yards on a naked bootleg to put the game away early in the fourth quarter. The Panthers rolled up 386 yards against a Ravens defense that had come in allowing a league-low 280.6 yards and 14.4 points per game.STEELERS 33, BROWNS 18PITTSBURGH (AP) — Ben Roethlisberger threw two touchdown passes to Antonio Brown, James Conner scored twice to bring some solace to a city grieving from tragedy. The Steelers (4-2-1) overcame a slow start and their own mistakes to win their 15th straight at Heinz Field over the Browns (2-5-1), who have lost 25 consecutive road games — one shy of the NFL record. The win brought temporary comfort to Pittsburgh’s fans a day after a gunman stormed into the Tree of Life Synagogue and killed 11 people. A moment of silence was observed before the game and several signs with the Steelers’ helmet logo — inlaid with a Star of David — were displayed by fans.Roethlisberger connected on TD passes of 43 and 1 yard with Brown, and Conner continued to minimize Le’Veon Bell’s absence. Conner rushed for 146 yards, and scored on a 12-yard run in the third quarter that put the Steelers ahead 23-12.Conner’s 22-yard TD with 2:04 left made it 33-12.Rookie quarterback Baker Mayfield threw a pair of TD passes, but the Browns squandered some early scoring chances and remain winless in Pittsburgh since 2003.CHIEFS 30, BRONCOS 23KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Patrick Mahomes threw for 303 yards and four touchdowns, Sammy Watkins had 107 yards receiving and two of the scores.Travis Kelce and Kareem Hunt added touchdown catches for the Chiefs (7-1), who have won 19 of their past 21 games against division rivals. That includes all three games this season.Case Keenum had 262 yards passing and two scores for the Broncos (3-5), while Phillip Lindsay had a big day in his first career start. The undrafted rookie had 95 yards rushing and a score while catching three passes and providing a spark out of the backfield.Still, that production couldn’t help the Broncos overcome their own sloppiness. They were flagged 10 times for 83 yards, several of the penalties wiping out big gains — and that doesn’t include a few that were declined or offsetting James Conner Jersey White , including a personal foul on defensive tackle Derek Wolfe.Denver has lost seven straight to its biggest rival.REDSKINS 20, GIANTS 13EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — Safety D.J. Swearinger intercepted two passes, Matt Ioannidis had 2½ sacks, and the NFC East-leading Redskins rode their defense to a third straight win.Adrian Peterson caught a 7-yard touchdown pass from Alex Smith and ran for a season-high 149 yards, with the last64 coming on a touchdown jaunt with 3:06 to play, as the Redskins (5-2) matched their best start since 2008.Dustin Hopkins added field goals of 53 and 39 yards for the Redskins, who will finish the week with a 1½-game lead in the division. The three-game winning streak is their longest in two seasons. The Redskins sacked a battered Eli Manning seven times, forced the two turnovers and made big play after big play in sending New York (1-7) to its fifth straight loss.Aldrick Rosas kicked field goals of 37 and 21 yards for the Giants. Manning,30 of 47 for 316 yards, hit Evan Engram on a 2-yard touchdown pass with :17 to play.BENGALS 37, BUCCANEERS 34CINCINNATI (AP) — Jessie Bates returned Jameis Winston’s fourth interception for a touchdown, and Randy Bullock kicked a 44-yard field goal on the final play.Winston was benched after matching his career high with four interceptions. Ryan Fitzpatrick rallied the Buccaneers (3-4) to a 34-34 tie with a pair of touchdown passes, including his 18-yard toss with 1:05 left. The Bengals (5-3) recovered from their second-worst drubbing under Marvin Lewis and pulled it out with only their scoring drive in the second half. Andy Dalton had completions of 23 and 9 yards to A.J. Green that got them in field-goal range.Tampa Bay has allowed at least 30 points in five games and changed defensive coordinators two weeks ago. This time, Winston was the Bucs‘ biggest problem. He threw four interceptions for the third time in his career, including one directly to Bates that the safety returned for Cincinnati’s fourth defensive touchdown of the season. Winston went to the bench, and Ryan Fitzpatrick pulled Tampa Bay even.Fitzpatrick threw a 72-yard touchdown to Mike Evans, his fifth TD pass of at least 50 yards this season — most in the NFL. He also led an 88-yard drive to the tying score, hitting O.J. Howard for an 18-yard touchdown and completing another pass for the conversion. Now, the Bucs have to decide which one will lead the NFL’s top-ranked offense in yardage.SEAHAWKS 28, LIONS 14DETROIT (AP) — Russell Wilson threw three touchdown passes in the second quarter to put the Seahawks ahead. The Seahawks (4-3) looked sharp on both sides of the ball coming off their bye and won for the fourth time in five games after opening the season with two losses.Wilson completed 10 passes, two for scores, before having an incompletion late in the second quarter. He finished 14 of 17 for 248 yards, leading to a perfect quarterback rating. Wilson’s 24-yard pass to Tyler Lockett , 15-yard throw to David Moore and 12-yard pass to Ed Dickson for touchdowns gave Seattle a 21-7 lead at halftime.Chris Carson, who had 105 yards rushing Womens Jerome Bettis Jersey , scored on a 7-yard run early in the fourth to put the Seahawks up 28-7.Detroit acquired run-stuffing defensive tackle Damon “Snacks” Harrison from the New York Giants for a fifth-round pick just four days before the game, but he wasn’t able to immediately help one of the NFL’s worst run defenses. The Lions (3-4) had won three of four.BEARS 24, JETS 10CHICAGO (AP) — Mitchell Trubisky threw for two touchdowns for the short-handed Bears. The Bears (4-3) got the win after dropping two in a row to fall out of the NFC North lead, even though star pass rusher Khalil Mack (right ankle) and No. 1 receiver Allen Robinson (groin) missed the game. With Sam Darnold struggling against Chicago’s defense, the Jets (3-5) managed just 207 yards and lost their second straight game.Trubisky was shaky but did enough to help the Bears come out on top. He connected with Tarik Cohen for a 70-yard touchdown on a screen pass in the first quarter and threw a 4-yard scoring pass to Anthony Miller in the third, making it 14-3. But the second-year pro was wild again after struggling with his control against New England the previous week.Trubisky was 16 of 29 for 220 yards. He also ran for 51 yards on six attempts.Cohen’s lone reception was the big touchdown. He also ran for 40 yards on five carries.Steelers vs. Ravens Final Score: Steelers’ inconsistencies glaring in 26-14 loss to Baltimore The Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens had an AFC North score to settle. In what is usually a very even series, the Steelers had won the previous three meetings, but these two teams were vastly different heading into this Week 4 prime time matchup at Heinz Field. Pittsburgh won the coin toss prior to the game, and elected to defer their first possession to the second half. With Baltimore starting the game with the football, it took just under 5 minutes for the Ravens to draw first blood. Joe Flacco hit John Brown for a 33 yard touchdown to give Baltimore an early 7-0 lead.On the Steelers’ first possession, on third down, Ben Roethlisberger hit Vance McDonald in the flat, and as it looked like he would be stopped for the yard to gain, safety Tony Jefferson stripped the football and recovered the fumble. Three plays later Flacco his running back Alex Collins in the flat to make it 14-0 while the Steelers had yet to even get a first down.In their third offensive possession, Pittsburgh finally tallied their first first down of the game, and after a big pass and catch to JuJu Smith-Schuster, the Steelers found themselves in Baltimore territory for the first time. On third and ten, a pass to Smith-Schuster in the end zone was broken up, and Pittsburgh was forced to settle for a Chris Boswell field goal, making the score 14-3.The Steelers’ defense continued to resemble Swiss cheese more than a steel curtain, and on the Ravens’ first play on their next drive Flacco hit Brown for a 71-yard completion to put the Ravens deep in Pittsburgh territory. However, on the next play from scrimmage, Alex Collins fumbled at the goalline, and it was recovered by Terrell Edmunds. The next drive started at the one-yard line, and it took up over 6 minutes of game time, but when threatening the put up their first touchdown of the game Jerome Bettis Jersey , they were held to another Boswell field goal making the score 14-6 with 6:26 left in the first half.Pittsburgh’s defense forced a three-and-out, giving the team’s offense the ball with 5 minutes remaining in the half. What happened next is a 76-yard drive, all passes, which ended in a beautiful strike from Roethlisberger to Antonio Brown for the score. Mike Tomlin elected to go for the two-point conversion to tie the game, and the pass to James Conner in the flat was good, tying the game at 14-14.The 14-14 tie held through halftime, and the Steelers opened the second half with their seemingly patented three and out to start a half. But both offenses failed to move the football throughout the early portions of the third quarter.Leave it to Justin Tucker to break the tie, and he hit a 47 yard field goal with 4:00 left in the third quarter to give the Ravens a slight 17-14 advantage. The Steelers’ offense ineptitude continued throughout the third quarter, and it wasn’t until the fourth quarter when Tucker hit another field goal, this from 49 yards, to extend the Baltimore lead 20-14. nd another Jordan Berry punt, this time down to the 6-yard line, Baltimore rattled off a nifty, time-consuming, drive ending in a Tucker chip shot to make the score 23-14 in the waning minutes of the quarter. In desperate need of a drive, not only did the Pittsburgh offense fail to muster a first down, but on 3rd and 10 Ben Roethlisberger threw an interception which essentially iced the game away. The turnover resulted in yet another Tucker field goal, to make the score 26-14. This score would stand as the final score of the Week 4 contest. The loss moves the Steelers’ record to 1-2-1, and the Ravens advance their record to 3-1 — on top of beating Pittsburgh for the first time in the last three tries. In Week 5 the Steelers will remain at home, where they haven’t won a game yet this season, to host the Atlanta Falcons for a 1 p.m. ET kickoff.

(AP) — The last two weeks of Year 2 under Jon Gruden have looked an awfully lot like the first season did for the Oakland Raiders. The Raiders have back-to-back lopsided losses following an encouraging season-opening win, with the struggles on both sides of the ball exposed during a 34-14 loss at Minnesota on Sunday.“This is something you can’t just move on from.” linebacker Tahir Whitehead said. “It’s a long road ahead. If we don’t get this corrected, then it is going to be a long season. We need to hold each other accountable and make sure nobody is comfortable after this loss, because there is a lot of things that need to be fixed. We experienced a long season last year. I am not trying to go through the same thing and many others on this team will say the same.”Gruden’s first season back in Oakland was a rough one, featuring the trade of star pass rusher Khalil Mack before the start of the season and a four-win campaign when the Raiders often looked overmatched. The talent level was supposed to be better this season, although that hasn’t helped the performance the past two weeks, starting with a 28-10 loss to Kansas City. The Raiders have lost back-to-back games by at least 18 points for the first time in seven years.Gruden didn’t directly address Whitehead’s comments but acknowledged his team needs plenty of work, especially from the first and second-year players who are being counted on to carry a big load.“I’m not going to get into all the problems that he’s talking about,” Gruden said. “We had some breakdowns Antonio Brown Jersey White , no question, and when have breakdowns and penalties against good teams on the road, usually you lose the game, and that’s what happened. You don’t fall behind 21-0 to a team like that on the road and expect to win, certainly, but in response to his questions, I’ll deal with him individually.”WHAT’S WORKINGAbout the only thing working well for the Raiders right now is the connection between Derek Carr and tight end Darren Waller. Waller had 13 catches for 134 yards, the best marks for any tight end in the league this season. Waller now has 26 catches for 267 yards this season. Waller came into the season with 18 career catches for 178 yards since entering the league in 2015.WHAT NEEDS HELPThe defense fared well in the opener against Joe Flacco and the Broncos and managed to keep Patrick Mahomes and the high-powered Chiefs off the scoreboard in three of four quarters in Week 2. There was little positive at all against Kirk Cousins and the Vikings. Oakland forced no turnovers and just two punts all day; Minnesota had no problem gaining yards on the ground or through the air. The few positive plays were negated by penalties, including five that generated first downs. Oakland also allowed a 92-yard TD drive, the third time this season an opponent has driven at least 90 yards for a touchdown.STOCK UPWR J.J. Nelson. One of the only bright spots in the lopsided loss was Nelson, who made his debut with the Raiders after missing the first two weeks with an ankle injury. He had four catches for 36 yards, including a 29-yarder for a TD off a flea- flicker.STOCK DOWNCarr. After promising signs in the opener, Carr has gone back to a quarterback who is unwilling or unable to stretch the field, and the results have been poor. Oakland has stalled offensively after scoring on six of the first 10 drives this season. The Raiders had a 17-drive stretch the past two weeks that featured 10 punts, three interceptions, one missed field goal, one turnover on downs, one drive that ended at halftime and one touchdown. Oakland managed to add a garbage time TD against the Vikings, but has had little consistent offense since a fast start to the season.INJUREDRT Trent Brown left the game with an ankle injury. … Marquel Lee (ankle) and Nicholas Morrow (ankle) also are dealing with injuries and Gruden said the team might need to bring in some new linebackers this week for depth. … RG Gabe Jackson (knee) isn’t expected to practice this week after getting hurt in training camp, but could be an option next week.KEY NUMBER3 — Rookie running back Josh Jacobs was expected to be a key part of the passing game this season, but that hasn’t developed yet. His only catch through three weeks was a 28-yarder in the opener and he has been targeted just three times during the 46 pass plays when he is on the field.“We’re trying,” Gruden said. “We definitely do want to get Josh to be a big part of the passing game. No doubt. We certainly do.”NEXT STEPSThe Raiders head to Indianapolis for the second contest in a five-game stretch away from Oakland. They will go straight from there to London for a “home” game against Chicago before going to Green Bay and Houston following an off week.

Broncos vs. Redskins: 4 winners , 3 losers in Denver’s 29-17 win over Washington The Denver Broncos completely manhandled the Washington Redskins 29-17 during their regular season dress rehearsal on Friday night. The first and second team units smothered the Redskins passing attack and limited the damage on the ground for a 23-point lead heading into the fourth quarter.Given such domination, there were plenty of winners tonight, but I’ll focus on the four biggest winners and pick on three players who need to improve on their play in this game.Winner - Vance JosephTime for all you Vance Joseph haters to give credit where credit is due. He was roasted for losing games with the worst quarterback situation in the NFL last season, so why not give him some love for dominating an opponent in what is considered the dress rehearsal to the regular season. While Paxton Lynch was booed coming onto the field last week, it was Trevor Siemian’s turn to be booed by Minnesota Vikings fans this week after a horrific performance in his dress rehearsal as the backup quarterback there.Joseph now has talent at the most important position in the game and the team went out and shut down the Redskins on the road. I’ll take it! Loser - Brendan Langley and Isaac YiadomFor Brendan Langley, he came out of college a very raw cornerback and he still has a long ways to go. He struggled in coverage again this week, getting burned deep late in the game in what would lead to the Redskins first touchdown of the game. Both Langley and rookie Isaac Yiadom struggled in this game and it leaves the secondary a bit thin on depth. The Broncos won’t want to see either player on the field too much during the regular season.Winner - Phillip LindsayWhen you hit a home run on an undrafted college free agent, you just know it early on. Phillip Lindsay is going to be lightning in a bottle for the Broncos. He gets the added bonus of being a local, hometown hero, so I am sure Broncos Country is going to love this kid.It seemed like Lindsay was more featured in the backfield than Devontae Booker in that first half. It’s true that Lindsay finished with 5 carries for 31 yards compared to Booker’s 3 carries for 9 yards, but some of that came in the second half after the starters (Booker included) were on the bench. The fact is, however, that Freeman looks like your starter and Lindsay looks like your third down, change of pace back. Where exactly does that leave Booker in terms of carries or even on-the-field presence?Winner - Royce FreemanI think we can officially start drafting Royce Freeman much earlier in our fantasy leagues. He may not be the every down running back, but he is going to see plenty of red zone touches and he apparently has a nose for the end zone having scored in each of the Broncos three preseason games. This 24-yard burst up the middle was setup by Andy Janovich Dalton Risner Jersey , but it was Freeman’s nifty footwork that got him through muck and into the end zone.Loser - Billy TurnerThere was one play in the third quarter that nearly got Chad Kelly killed. Somehow Kelly still got the ball out to De’Angelo Henderson who was then also subsequently nearly killed. That sequence of events rests entirely at the feet of Billy Turner who was completely owned on the play. The Broncos have some serious depth concerns on the offensive line and will need Turner to step up his game if he makes the final 53-man roster this season.Winner - Dymonte ThomasSafety Dymonte Thomas probably made the most of his playing time in terms of getting noticed for one of those final 53-man roster spots. He had a fantastic fourth down stop in coverage on Vernon Davis - covering tight ends is an issue for the Broncos defense - early in the game that could have potentially led to points. Instead, the two-yard pass resulted in a turnover on down which Case Keenum and the offense took down the field for a touchdown and a 10-0 lead instead.Covering tight ends could be how Thomas finds his way onto this roster. He and Su’a Cravens could be the missing pieces to a defense that has been great for years despite that one lingering weakness. Harris walked back the escalation with a reconciliatory tone in recent comments to the media. First, in an interview with 9News on Wednesday, Harris didn’t mince words on where he was with this situation. This is good news for fans of Harris and his outstanding career in Denver. He may be 30 years old, but there has been no sign of his play declining. Father time will always win, but there seems to be a good chance he has more than a few quality years left in his career.he noted that the door is only going to be closed by the Broncos and that he still wanted to retire in Denver. As for a potential hold out, that wouldn’t be in the cards. First, John Elway has never gone down a road with any player that forces them to either hold out or play out a contract they no longer want. Elway will trade Harris before that decision would ever be on the table for Harris. Elway wouldn’t want to keep a player on the roster who doesn’t want to be there. So while it’s still like a new deal or a trade, at least it is starting to look a little less dire of a situation. Perhaps that $15 million a year demand was merely a starting point for these negotiations. Whatever the final offer ends up being, the Denver Broncos are a better football team with Chris Harris Jr. than without. And that will hold true no matter who they draft this weekend.

NASHVILLE Dwayne Haskins Jersey White , Tenn. (AP) — Blaine Gabbert threw a 2-yard touchdown pass to MyCole Pruitt with 4:30 left and the Tennessee Titans kept their playoff hopes alive by rallying to beat the Washington Redskins 25-16 on Saturday.Gabbert came off the bench for the third time this season after the Redskins knocked Marcus Mariota out of the game late in the first half with a stinger. Gabbert hit Taywan Taylor for 35 yards to jump-start the winning drive, Derrick Henry ran four times for 33 yards, his last an 18-yarder to the 2. Gabbert then hit Pruitt at the back of the end zone. The Titans (9-6) now must beat Andrew Luck and the Indianapolis Colts and have either Baltimore or Pittsburgh lose once to earn the AFC’s second wild-card spot for a second consecutive playoff berth.Safety Kevin Byard intercepted Josh Johnson’s pass on third-and-3 with 1:17 left. Then Malcolm Butler picked off a pass as time expired and ran 56 yards for an emphatic TD.The Redskins (7-8) have lost five of six.RAVENS 22, CHARGERS 10CARSON, Calif. (AP) — Lamar Jackson threw for 204 yards and had the longest touchdown pass of his brief career Wes Martin Jersey , and Baltimore strengthened its chances of clinching a playoff spot. The Ravens (9-6) — who have won five of their last six with Jackson as the starter — dominated for most of the night to remain in possession of the last wild-card spot. They briefly trailed 10-6 early in the third quarter before Jackson completed a 68-yard touchdown pass to Mark Andrews.Justin Tucker’s third field goal extended the lead to six and they put it away late in the fourth quarter when Patrick Onwuaso forced Antonio Gates’ fumble and Tavon Young returned it 62 yards. Jackson, who was the 32nd overall pick in April, had his first 200-yard passing game, completing 12 of 22. Gus Edwards had 92 yards on 14 carries.Los Angeles (11-4) has clinched a playoff spot, but its hopes of winning the AFC West suffered a major blow. Kansas City can wrap up the division with a win on Sunday at Seattle.  after he was critical of Defensive Coordinator Greg Manusky following their loss to the Titans. Swearinger has been outspoken about the team's issues multiple times this season(and last season). He was warned multiple times Womens Bryce Love Jersey , but it eventually got to the point where the Redskins decided to part ways.Swearinger broke the news about his release during his weekly paid appearance on 106.7 the Fan's Grant and Danny. He talked about the relaxed practices Jay Gruden runs, his shock that he was released for speaking the truth and trying to improve the team, and more. Today he broke the news that he was claimed by the Arizona Cardinals(3-12) off waivers. Swearinger first joined the Cardinals late in the 2015 season after being released by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He signed a 1 year deal for 2016, and claims he was ready to re-sign with them before signing a 3 year deal with the Redskins. Swearinger will be available for Arizona's last game of the season against the Seahawks.

Through three games last year Womens Antonio Brown Jersey , Vikings receiver Adam Thielen had 32 catches and 338 yards. Through three games this year, Thielen has only 11 catches and 173 yards. The reduced output “doesn’t matter to me, as long as we win,” Thielen told PFT via phone after Sunday’s 34-14 win over the Raiders. Thielen explained that he continues to focus on all the little things that go with running routes and getting open, and that he simply tries to make the most out of every opportunity that comes his way.“It’s definitely not harder,” Thielen said regarding the change in the focus from passing to running. “It’s just different.”The very different focus on running — led by the incredible skills of third-year running back Dalvin Cook — makes it easier to pass via play action. Which is exactly what the Vikings did in scoring their first touchdown of the day. With quarterback Kirk Cousins faking the handoff and rolling left, Thielen popped wide open. So open that it almost became a problem.Thielen said it’s actually harder to catch a pass when he’s that open than when he’s blanketed, because there’s a chance he’ll loose his focus when he takes it for granted. He made the catch. And he scored again on a short running play at the goal line, punctuated with a spike so aggressive that it almost seemed like he was sending a message. Was he?“No,” Thielen said. “I just didn’t know what else to do.”The Vikings have shown they know what to do to win games: Combine old-school offense with old-school defense. It was a fitting combination on the day they recognized the ultra-old-school 1969 Vikings, who won the last NFL championship before the merger. General Discussion / If Pineiro hit the kick, the Bears would win.
« on: January 08, 2020, 10:00:20 am »
Peyton Manning spoke about the Jets General Manager job earlier this week and he discussed another job he’s been linked with this year on Thursday.Manning said he never spoke directly with anyone from the Jets before or after they fired Mike Maccagnan this month Bradley Chubb Broncos Jersey , but he did have conversations with ESPN about joining the booth after Jason Witten decided to return to the Cowboys. Manning turned down their overtures, which leaves Joe Tessitore and Booger McFarland as the announcing team.“I talked to the folks,” Manning said, via Ryan O’Halloran of the . “I enjoyed talking to the them. I had great conversation. It wasn’t the right time this year. Maybe it will never be.”Manning didn’t expand on why this year wasn’t the right time for him to take on a broadcasting role, but the answer suggests it’s something he might be open to doing in the future. Many believe that’s also the case for a job running football operations for a team, so it seems likely that Manning’s going to continue to be around the NFL in a significant way whichever path he chooses to follow in the future. The final minutes of Sunday’s game between the Bears and Broncos were filled with wild swings back and forth and it all wound up with Bears kicker Eddy Pineiro on the field to try a 53-yard field goal on the final play of the game. If he missed Von Miller Jersey White , they’d be 0-2 and the football world would be talking about how the Bears keep missing last-second field goal attempts. That’s what brought Pineiro to Chicago as the team traded for him this offseason to be one of the candidates to replace Cody Parkey after his miss in the playoffs last season. It wound up being a long process with several other kickers coming through Chicago before they settled on Pineiro, who made the Bears look good by knocking the field goal through the uprights for a 16-14 road win.“It felt different. This was an emotional kick,” Pineiro said, via “With everything I’ve been through. The whole kicking situation. The Augusta silence. The media, everybody piling on.”Pineiro hit two other field goals on Sunday and is now 4-of-4 on the season.

LANDOVER Dwayne Haskins Redskins Jersey , Md. (AP) — Alex Smith seemed to know immediately this was bad. Really, really bad. He covered his face with both hands, then a white towel, before his fractured right leg was placed in an air cast and he was carted off the field. One of his predecessors as quarterback of the Washington Redskins, Joe Theismann, was at Sunday’s game and sensed the same — all-too-familiar with what a season-ending broken leg looks and feels like.Exactly 33 years to the day after Theismann’s gruesome injury during a nationally televised game , Smith went down with breaks to his right fibula and tibia midway through the third quarter of Washington’s 23-21 loss to the visiting Houston Texans on Sunday and was replaced at QB by backup Colt McCoy. Redskins coach Jay Gruden said Smith would have surgery “right away.”“I saw a pile of people go down, and then I saw Alex’s leg in the position it was in. And I turned away after that. It brought back vivid memories,” said Theismann, hurt when hit by Lawrence Taylor during a Redskins’ victory over the New York Giants on Nov. 18, 1985.“This date has always been a day in my life that I’ll never forget,” Theismann said in a telephone interview.“My immediate thought was that my heart went out to him. I feel so bad for him. I know the road ahead. We’re somewhat similar in age (when the injuries happened). He’s not 25 or 26 years of age. I was 35; he’s 34. How long will it take to come back? What is the severity?” Theismann added , saying he sent Smith a text message of support. “I worry less about Alex and his football career than I do Alex and wanting to be able to do the things in life he wants to do.”Smith was in his first season with the Redskins after arriving in a trade from the Kansas City Chiefs. He had thrown two first-half interceptions Sunday, one returned 101 yards for a TD by Texans safety Justin Reid, as Washington fell behind 17-7.McCoy helped Washington score a pair of TDs, including on his 9-yard touchdown pass to tight end Jordan Reed on the backup QB’s first pass in a regular-season game since 2015.Now Gruden will have a short week to help McCoy make his first NFL start since 2014: Washington (6-4) plays at Dallas (5-5) on Thanksgiving Day with first place in the NFC East on the line.“I’ve still got to knock a little rust off,” said McCoy, who went 6 for 12 for 54 yards passing and ran five times for 35 yards after replacing Smith.McCoy tried to lead the Redskins to the go-ahead points, but their last drive stalled, and Dustin Hopkins tried a 63-yard field goal that fell well short. The injury came when Smith was first hit by cornerback Kareem Jackson, then by defensive end J.J. Watt. Before Smith was driven off the field, players from both teams left the sidelines to offer well wishes. He waved to spectators as he was taken away.“We’re all gutted for Alex,” Watt said. “I feel absolutely terrible for him. It sucks. It’s the worst part of the game.”With Smith headed to injured reserve, McCoy is the only QB on Washington’s roster Womens Dwayne Haskins Jersey , so the team will need to find a backup somewhere. Gruden said he hoped to have someone signed by Monday.McCoy hasn’t worked with the first-team offense for the past few years, but Gruden said he still thinks his new starter at quarterback has a “great comfort level, I believe.”“He hasn’t played a whole lot. So we’ll see how he does,” Gruden said. “But I have confidence in Colt. Always have.” Washington used the 22nd overall choice on TCU receiver Josh Doctson in 2016. He has not lived up to expectations.Doctson missed most of his rookie season with an Achilles’ injury, and, in three seasons, he has made only 81 catches for 1,100 yards and eight touchdowns. That has Washington back in the receiver market.“I think when you look across this league at this particular time when you talk about a receiver basically what I think what we need and what we’ve talked about is what you call a ‘go-to guy,'”  Williams said during his press conference. “That guy in tough times, no matter the situation, he’s going to be able to make plays for you — a tough guy who will go across the middle, a guy that will block for you Dwayne Haskins Jersey White , the guys that wants the football. I mean you don’t want to be all the way divas, but you want somebody who wants the football. If they don’t get it, you don’t want them in the press saying they didn’t throw me the football and you want them to be team players. I think we are looking for a guy that we know that when crunch times come, he’s going to be in the thick of it. I think that’s the most important thing.”This draft, though, might not hold a “go-to guy” that Williams and Washington covet. The team has featured a 1,000-yard receiver since 2016 when Pierre Garcon (1,041) and DeSean Jackson (1,005) both topped the mark.

General Discussion / To get that security, Lawrence had to agree

Today’s edition of featured an amusing (but obviously somewhat serious) anecdote regarding the inability of Raiders receiver Antonio Brown to practice due to what has been characterized as blisters on his feet.On Monday Womens Terrell Edmunds Jersey , co-host Chris Simms said that the photos posted by Brown don’t reveal blisters but the peeling of layers of of skins from the bottom of his feet. Simms said that he once had a condition like that, thanks to what he called an “unidentified Buc fungus” in Tampa. After Monday’s show, Simms got word from someone with knowledge of the situation that Brown burned his feet by entering a cryotherapy machine without the proper footwear, and his feet were frostbitten.Brown’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus T. J. Watt Jersey White , did not respond to a request for comment. The former Steeler started training camp on the non-football injury list. He exited NFI, practiced for a few days, and then was unable to practice. He has seen a specialist, and is regarded as day to day. Pittsburgh Steelers, take note. The Dallas Cowboys have shown you and the rest of the league how to properly structure a long-term deal for a player who is restricted by the franchise tag. With $20.56 million on the books for 2019 — and a chance to make $29.6 million under a third franchise tag in 2020 — Lawrence swapped the tag in the hand for a long-term deal that made sense for both sides.Albert Breer of has posted the cash flow generated by the new long-term deal. And the key comes from the first two years: Lawrence gets $31.1 million in 2019 and $16.9 million in 2020 Terrell Edmunds Jersey White , fully guaranteed. That’s $48 million over two years. While $2.1 million less than the $50.1 million he would have made under the franchise tag over the next two years, it’s also more than the franchise tag/transition tag two-step that the Cowboys could have attempted, which would have resulted in $20.56 million in 2019 and $24.672 million in 2020, for a total of $45.23 million.Lawrence also has $17 million in 2021 that is guaranteed for injury at signing, and that amount becomes fully guaranteed in March of 2020 — not March of 2021. This means that he’ll either get $65 million for three years or $48 million for one year Womens JuJu Smith-Schuster Jersey , and a trip to the open a pair of non-guaranteed years on the back and, at $19 million in 2022 and $21 million in 2023. There’s a chance that increases in the salary cap, along with other contracts signed in the interim, will make those numbers seem pedestrian by then. There’s also a chance the Cowboys won’t honor the non-guaranteed years. Regardless Womens T. J. Watt Jersey , he’s getting either $48 million for one year or $65 million for three, which makes it worth the risk that he’ll either be underpaid or cut loose in 2022.And if the Steelers were willing (they’re definitely able) to structure contracts this way, running back Le'Veon Bell would still be on the team. But because Pittsburgh stubbornly refuses to fully guarantee money beyond the first year of a contract, it never made sense for Bell to trade in a one-year fully-guaranteed franchise tender for a long-term deal with no clear commitment beyond the first season.

GREEN BAY Bo Jackson Jersey White , Wis. (AP) — Next man up: Allen Lazard.Lazard caught his first pass from Aaron Rodgers on Monday night. He ended up catching three more, including one for a 35-yard touchdown in the Packers‘ win over Detroit. It was the biggest moment of the undrafted second-year receiver’s career. Now what?Article continues below ...“Anybody can do it one time, and that’s what we say, but now you gotta do it each and every time,” coach Matt LaFleur said. “That’s the expectation and that’s the standard. But, again, he puts in the work and he does a great job in practice. So I’m excited to see him put together back-to-back-to-back (productive games) and see where it goes.”Lazard will try for an encore on Sunday when Green Bay (5-1) hosts the Oakland Raiders (3-2), a team the Packers have defeated seven straight times, going back to 1990.“Monday was great and all, but our focus is on Miami in February (site of the Super Bowl). So we still gotta get to there,” Lazard said.Despite being an All-Big 12 performer in three seasons at Iowa State, the 6-foot-5 Lazard went undrafted last year and wound up on the Jacksonville Jaguars practice squad. He used that time to learn from one of the game’s best.“I was going against Jalen Ramsey every single day,” Lazard said. “And so just to be able to sit there and go against him, and really, I was studying, watching him, how he reacted against me and how he played me. I sat there and talked to him, asked him questions. What was he doing here? What was he thinking?”That preparation made Lazard an attractive option for the Packers, who snatched him from the Jaguars toward the end of last season.Injuries to receivers Davante Adams and Geronimo Allison and a vote of confidence from Rodgers created an opportunity for Lazard to showcase his skills. Now, Lazard is another weapon for Rodgers in an offense that Raiders coach Jon Gruden and his staff have to figure out how to stop.“They are doing a lot of different things with the structure of their plays , but Rodgers is still working the snap count,” Gruden said.“You see him beat Denver with the hard count. His magnificent scrambling, creating offense is uncommon, it’s just unbearable to watch. I hate watching this guy, he’s fun to watch but he’s really not fun to watch when you got to play against him. He still has a very quick trigger, deadly accurate, a lot of overall athleticism and a great competitor. You saw it again the other night.”NEWEST PACKERThe Packers announced the signing of receiver Ryan Grant on Wednesday. The 6-foot, 194-pound six-year veteran was with the Raiders from the offseason through the first two games this year. Grant, who worked out with Adams during the offseason, will wear No. 11 for Green Bay.“I just want to come in and help as much as possible,” Grant said. “Whether it’s on offense or special teams. Anyway, anywhere I can help.”FRIEND OR FOE?No. 11 previously belonged to Trevor Davis, whom the Packers traded to Oakland following their Week 2 win over the Vikings. Davis had four catches for 42 yards and a 52-yard kickoff return in the Raiders’ Week 5 win over Chicago in London.Oakland also has Rodgers’ former backup, DeShone Kizer. Kizer played in three games for the Packers last season and threw for 273 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions for Green Bay during the preseason before not making the team’s 53-man roster.UNDER PRESSUREThe Raiders have been searching for a consistent pass rush ever since trading away Khalil Mack before last season. The rush is showing signs of progress. Oakland had four sacks in its last game against Chicago for its most since 2017. Benson Mayowa leads the team with 4½ sacks, second-year defensive tackle Maurice Hurst had two against the Bears, and rookie Maxx Crosby got his first and has been disruptive the past two weeks.GROUND AND POUNDRookie Josh Jacobs is showing why the Raiders drafted him in the first round. His 430 yards rushing is the second most for a Raiders rookie through five games to Bo Jackson’s 475 yards in 1987. He had 26 carries for 123 yards and two TDs against the Bears and has been a bigger factor in the passing game of late with five catches his past two games. The running game should get a boost this week with the expected return of right guard Gabe Jackson, who has been out since training camp with a knee injury.WHERE ARE THE WIDEOUTS?Oakland will be without its projected top four wide receivers heading into the season this week. Antonio Brown was expected to be the focal point of the offense before getting released two days before the opener.Tyrell Williams got off to a strong start this year but is expected to miss his second straight game with a foot injury. Grant and J.J. Nelson have both been released in recent weeks. That leaves Davis, fifth-round rookie Hunter Renfrow and recently acquired Zay Jones as the top options for quarterback Derek Carr.“We’ve had a lot of things happen to our wide receiver corps, so we’ve been on the lookout to acquire some good Derek Carr Jersey White , young players,” Gruden said. “To get Zay for what we feel like we gave up is a risk worth taking and we’ll see if it pays any dividends, but he’s a good young player. He’s got some size and speed and was a very, very productive receiver, so we’re happy to have him.” OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) — Derek Carr had appeared to pass Philip Rivers in the pecking order of AFC West quarterbacks two years ago. He put together a season worthy of MVP consideration while Rivers led the NFL in interceptions on the way to a last-place finish.Carr looked like one of the NFL’s up-and-coming stars, while Rivers seemed to be on the downside of a career that started in 2004.The script has flipped heading into Sunday’s meeting between Rivers’ Los Angeles Chargers (6-2) and Carr’s Oakland Raiders (1-7). Rivers is playing as well as he has at any point in his 15-year career, while Carr is struggling to find his way in coach Jon Gruden’s offense.“Obviously quarterbacks get way too much credit and way too much blame already, but I think we don’t give enough credit to guys who have played that long,” Carr said. “I’ll say it this way, the hardest part mentally going through a season is the days leading up to the game. Sunday is fun, man. You cut it loose and you give it everything you have. Having to recover, ice tub, wake up early to get treatment, the lift, to lift heavy when everything hurts, that’s when those guys don’t get enough credit.“Here I am at five years, I’m fine. I’m good. I’ll keep doing this and I’m good. But, those guys that are in their 15th, 20th season Antonio Brown Raiders Jersey , we don’t give them enough credit to mentally be that strong. It’s awesome.”Rivers has career highs in yards per attempt (9.1) and passer rating (116.5), and is on pace for a career-high 38 touchdown passes while leading the Chargers to five straight wins. The Chargers have strengthened their offensive line, have a potent running threat in Melvin Gordon, have plenty of outside targets with Keenan Allen, Tyrell Williams and Mike Williams, and a strong defense. That has all taken pressure off Rivers to carry too much of the load.“These last almost 20 games or so, we’ve had good balance,” Rivers said. “Leaning on one another offensively and defensively taking care of the ball — all of those things are important. So we’ve done a nice job of it so far.”Here are some other things to watch:GORDON’S RUNMelvin Gordon has rushed for 407 yards and scored five touchdowns in his last four games. He also has three 100-yard games in three of his past four, the first time that has happened in his career. The only game when Gordon did not go over the century mark was Week 5 against the Raiders; he had just 58 yards on 19 carries. The Raiders are last in the league in rushing defense, but Gordon knows he has a tough test ahead.“They played me pretty tough last time we went up against them. It is never easy since they are a rival. As a group the offensive line is hitting on all cylinders. We hope to keep getting stronger.”PRESSURE POINTThe Raiders have struggled to generate any sort of pass pressure all season after trading away Khalil Mack. Oakland ranks last in the NFL with seven sacks and last with 35 QB pressures, according to SportRadar, 28 fewer pressures than the next-lowest team. Fixing that will only get harder after the team released top pass rusher Bruce Irvin last week. That puts more pressure on a trio of rookies — P.J. Hall, Arden Key and Maurice Hurst — that has three sacks this season.“We put a lot on their plate and that’s because they’re the future of this team,” teammate Frostee Rucker said. “They have to come along and play.”KINGS OF PICKSThe Chargers have seven interceptions during their five-game winning streak and have 189 yards in returns, which leads the league. Second-year cornerback Desmond King has three of the interceptions and returned one 42 yards for a touchdown last week at Seattle to put the Chargers up by two scores.MISSING WIDEOUTSOaklandhas struggled to get any production from wideouts in recent weeks. Since the start of Week 5, Oakland ranks last in the NFL with 37 catches and 428 yards receiving from wide receivers. in that span before being traded to Dallas. Seth Roberts leads Oakland’s pass catchers with 12 receptions over those four games, while Martavis Bryant has the most yards with 138.NEW KICKER (AGAIN)The Chargers have become the Bermuda Triangle for placekickers. Michael Badgley is the team’s sixth since the start of last season and moved into the role fulltime this week after Caleb Sturgis was released on Monday. Badgley made all three of his field goals and seven extra points in the two games he kicked when Sturgis had a quadriceps injury.

General Discussion / Lynch got a chance to make a case for that job

While there is still more to learn about the extent of Patrick Mahomes‘ knee injury Joe Flacco Jersey , the Kansas City Chiefs and Mahomes himself seem about as optimistic as possible about his prognosis.“Awesome team win! Love my brothers! Thank you for all the prayers! Everything looking good so far! #GodisGood #ChiefsKingdom,” Mahomes said on his Twitter account after the game.Mahomes left Thursday night’s game against the Denver Broncos in the second quarter after his right kneecap became dislocated on a quarterback sneak on a fourth-and-1. Mahomes was helped to the sideline after the injury was addressed on the field and ultimately left the field under his own power.Reports on the injury soon afterward said there is no fracture. That would certainly seem to be as positive a return as the team could have hoped to see at this point until an MRI can show the full extent of the damage the dislocation caused. Until that’s known, Mahomes and the Chiefs will just have to hope they dodged a big blow to their 2019 aspirations. Paxton Lynch‘s time with the Broncos didn’t go all that well and that’s why the 2016 first-round pick is now trying to land a backup quarterback job in Seattle.against his former team on Thursday night. Lynch followed Geno Smith in the preseason opener and put together a strong effort. He was 11-of-15 for 109 yards through the air and added 38 rushing yards while both throwing and running for touchdowns.During the game, social media had fun with the idea of Lynch being fueled by revenge but the quarterback said that wasn’t on his mind while he was on the field.“I know that there was some talk that it was about that, but I love those guys,” Lynch said, via the team’s website. “I have a lot of love for a lot of guys on that team Bradley Chubb Jersey White , they mean a lot to me. I respect them and love them, they’re close friends to me, so it had nothing to do with that. It was more to me, I had a lot to prove to myself tonight, and I feel like I went out there and did that.”Smith is having a cyst removed from his knee and is going to miss a week or so, which gives Lynch a chance to build on his strong performance and improve his chances of extending his run with the Seahawks.

Forbes was a 3 year starter at left tackle for the Redhawks, winning the team’s award for best offensive lineman in his sophomore year, his first year as a starter. In his junior year, he was named second team All Ohio Valley Conference, leading a line which allowed only 14 sacks all year. After his senior season, he was selected as an FCS second team All American by the Associated Press. Snubbed by the Combine, Forbes’ stock has improved dramatically in recent weeks as a result of an impressive Pro Day performance. He posted numbers on key metrics that would have had him among the top OL at the NFL combine. His 40 yd time (4.87) would have been the best speed among that group with his bench press (28), vertical jump (30.5”), and 3 cone (7.59 seconds) being top ten scores.StrengthsGreat athleticism.Durable.Smart. Had he posted those numbers at the NFL Combine, it’s possible that he would be in the Day 2 conversation. As it sits currently Womens Dwayne Haskins Jersey , it sounds like he’s a potential 4th or 5th round selection.  he’s already married, and he helped put the Southeast Missouri State football program on the map during his tenure with the team. Given his athletic prowess, his high motor, and his nasty streak, I’d love for the Redskins to give this guy a chance to fill out the interior line with Chase and Brandon. In 1960, the Washington Redskins had a bad season, going 1-9-2 in a 12-game schedule. The following season saw a lot of changes for the NFL and the Redskins franchise. The league added a team — the Minnesota Vikings, and moved the Dallas Cowboys from the Western Conference to the Eastern Conference. In addition, the NFL expanded the schedule from 12 to 14 games, and eliminated the bye week by having an even number of teams again. For the Redskins, the team fired coach Mike Nixon, who had gone 4-18-2 in two seasons, promoting Bill McPeak, who had been one of Nixon’s assistants.McPeak had played his college ball at the University of Pittsburgh and had been a Steelers defensive end for 9 years, after being selected in the 16th round of the 1948 draft.Although the Redskins never had a winning season under McPeak (he had an overall 21-46-3 record as head coach) Dwayne Haskins Jersey White , during his 5-year tenure the team acquired players (many of whom would become Hall-of-Famers) that would eventually play a part in their later winning years such as Sonny Jurgensen and Bobby Mitchell, and drafted future stars such as wide receiver Charley Taylor, tight end Jerry Smith, center Len Hauss, and linebacker Chris Hanburger. McPeak went on to have a long career in coaching and scouting, spending twelve years as the director of scouting for the New England Patriots. As a rookie head coach in 1961, however, he had the distinction of leading the least successful NFL campaign in Redskins history — a 1-12-1 effort that stands as the worst Redskins season in franchise history. The team was actually 0-12-1 through 13 games, avoiding a winless season by defeating the Dallas Cowboys 34-24 in a home game on 17 December in front of 21,451 fans.Interestingly, the Cowboys were not only the only team to lose to the Redskins in 1961, they were also the team that played to a tie with Washington at the game in Dallas in November. The Redskins managed to lose twice to each of the following teams: Eagles, Giants, Browns, Steelers, Cardinals, as well as one game each to the 49ers and Colts. Is it possible that the 2019 Redskins could set a new franchise record for futility? Could this team go 1-15 or 0-16?Prior to the start of the season Dwayne Haskins Jersey , I didn’t think so, but that was when I thought the Redskins defense was going to be among the top-10 in the league, and that the offense would play a slightly more wide-open version of last year’s ball control and field position game.Through three games, the offense has been close to what I anticipated, with less success running than I would have expected, but the defense has been a tragedy, with opponents racking up an average of 402 yards and 31 points per game.Suddenly, the Redskins look like they offer a “get well” game for the Giants, where — for most of the off season and preseason — I thought it would be the other way around.Every team in the league that has the Dolphins on the schedule has that game marked as an automatic “win” — but maybe not the Redskins.Could this Washington team be so out-of-sorts that they could travel to Miami in Week 6 and come away with a loss?If the Redskins lose to the Giants today and the Dolphins two weeks later, they would probably be 0-6 and it would be hard to see where a win would come from in the remaining schedule given the noise that a six-game losing streak would generate.Jay Gruden would never survive that (there have been reports that he will not survive a loss to the Giants today), which would mean a certain coaching change, a likely quarterback change, and a lost season. The 2019 Redskins could become only the third team in history to go 0-16.To avoid that, the team needs to play superior football today. The Redskins need to go to New York and come away with a win.A loss today could be the tipping point, leading to the worst season on record for a Redskins team.Or a win could be the start of a turnaround and salvaging a respectable season. The 1961 Redskins were the worst team in franchise history.I’d really like it to stay that way.

As a young child it was me just peaking in to see how they were doing as my father yelled at the TV. As I got older, I started to learn the players and have a vested interest in the outcome of the contest. That interest turned into an obsession, and with each game I hung onto every play praying for the desired outcome. While the praying might have ceased a bit as I grow older, I have always said the Pittsburgh Steelers will one day end my life. I see myself sitting there watching the black-and-gold at 90, and screaming at a stupid turnover, or a missed sack — and that’s it. Lights out. That’s all she wrote. There have been a ton of moments which have caused by blood pressure to go way above normal, but two games always come to mind when I think about those contests which truly tested every ounce of my fanhood. It just so happens both of these games were against the Indianapolis Colts, only about 10 years apart. At this point the average Steelers fans knows the two games I am talking about. First, 1995 when Jim Harbaugh and the underdog Colts came to Three Rivers Stadium and almost had one of the most remarkable comebacks in playoff history. For those who have never seen the game, you can see the highlights below in a classic edition of ESPN’s NFL Primetime, the Steelers vs. Colts game leads off the show.Want to watch the full game? Check it out below:Watching that Hail Mary pass bounce around Womens JuJu Smith-Schuster Jersey , and looking like it landed directly into the arms of the Colts receiver — my heart stopped. I know I wasn’t alone, and after watching the heart-wrenching defeat to the Chargers in 1994, I thought it happened all over again. The joy lasted a couple weeks before that quarterback who shall not be named but wore No. 14 ruined the Steelers’ hopes of upsetting the Dallas Cowboys in Super Bowl 30.The other game which took years off my life was non other than the 2005 AFC Divisional Game vs. Peyton Manning and the Colts. Yes, the Jerome Bettis fumble and Ben Roethlisberger tackle game. In case you forgot...First, the highlights:The full game:For the rest of my days I will never forget who I was with, where I was and our overall reaction to that game. Sitting on the couch and watching Joey Porter come off the edge and sack Peyton Manning to, what we thought, seal the game, equated in complete jubilation. My father, my brother and a slew of others crammed into a tiny Shepherdstown, WV apartment experienced complete jubilation. When Bettis fumbled, those tears of joy turned to tears of sadness. As we all know Womens T. J. Watt Jersey , it worked out in the end, and I am still bitter about that game. Not because of the fumble, but for the Troy Polamalu interception which was overturned giving the Colts new life. The Steelers are amazing. They can both frustrate and annoy, but we all live for these moments. Moments like those above when our hearts stop for a second. It might end our lives earlier than expected, but isn’t it worth it? That’s a debate for another day...What were some of the most heart-wrenching games you remember? Let us know in the comment section below! There is no certainty of anything, except that the draft includes a gluttony of defensive talent. With that being stated, the Steelers could end up with a number of players. There is not a clear cut prediction. Although the Steelers will ultimately write a player’s name on the draft card JuJu Smith-Schuster Jersey White , they are not in control of their own destiny...only a few at the top are. However, there’s a few teams that their decisions could easily change the direction of the draft. Lets take a look.Denver BroncosThe Broncos have more holes than a box of Munchkins. They need help on offense and defense. No one is sure what Elway and Co. will do, but they could start the run on Devins or QBs. Denver is also a good candidate to trade down. Colbert needs to have Elway on speed dial.Cincinnati BengalsI have a theory that the Bengals figure out who the Steelers desire to draft and do everything to wrest them away. Cincy desperately needs help at QB and an in-state collegiate star could fall to them. They really need to upgrade the line and could be in line for a top prospect. However, they do seem hellbent on replacing Vontaze Burfict. If they don’t go with a Devin, the Steelers could find themselves in position for one.New York GiantsTo me, Dave Gettleman is the renegade of this draft. Gettleman has gotten rid of nearly every star on this club. They could go with Devin White, but there is a theory that they will grab Eli’s successor here. But they could seriously go outside the box.Oakland RaidersSpeaking of renegades, Jon Gruden and Raiders brass are very unpredictable. They could trade up and get Kyler Murray and put Arizona in position to go EDGE. Or the Raiders could go with White. Or they could do something insane. Mike Mayock may stabilize things in Oakland however.jDetroit Lions The Lions are looking to trade down too. This could be a good spot for the Steelers to get into. But it won’t be cheap. If not, Detroit could get in on the Devins.Green Bay Packers The Packers have an extra first rounder and may trade up into the top three with the Jets. If they do that, they will take a stud at the top of the draft. But that could push Devin White to Tampa.Where do you stand on this theory? Please vote and weigh-in below.

Doug Martin getting same feature back treatment as Marshawn Lynch Womens Derek Carr Jersey , both to get ‘a couple thuds’ vs Packers in Raiders third preseason game This preseason, the combo of Marshawn Lynch and Doug Martin have seen a grand total of 6 snaps. Martin had four snaps in the preseason opener and Lynch had two. And neither dressed for their second preseason game last week against the Rams.We knew the moment Marshawn was brought back that he would be the feature back. But when Doug Martin was signed, his status seemed up in the air. Not for Gruden, though. He saw all he needed to see in the offseason to tell him Martin is who he thought he was.“I’ve seen a lot out of Doug since he’s been here,” Gruden said Monday. . . “we don’t really want to see those guys a whole lot to answer your question. We’ve seen a lot of them.”In those six snaps to open the preseason, Martin saw one carry for three yards and Marshawn had his one carry — a nearly untouched 60-yard touchdown — called back by a Kolton Miller holding penalty. So, whatever hitting they have had happened in training camp practices. The physicality ramped up when the Lions spent two days in Raiders camp to scrimmage with them. That apparently has been enough. The third preseason game is when the starters are supposed to play the most extensive snaps. Marshawn and Martin will play, but don’t expect either Marshawn or Martin to see much time.“We had a good physical practice against Detroit and we’ve had some physical practices early in training camp, but I think we’ll get out here into this third game here, we’ll get those guys a chance to get hit,” said offensive coordinator, Greg Olson. “I think you go throughout training camp and we do a lot of thudding, we do a lot of ball security drills offensively for the running backs, poking and prodding with different type drills, but until they get out on the field and actually get live contact, I think it’s a different mindset. So, we’ll get those guys some carries Womens Bo Jackson Jersey , get them a chance to get a couple of thuds and then we’ll get them out.”It’s quite a vote of confidence for a guy like Doug Martin, who has averaged 2.9 yards per carry the past two seasons, to be treated as a sure thing. He has looked good in camp, but then again most running backs do when the defense isn’t allowed to take them to the ground. Whether Gruden is right to put such faith in him will have to wait until the regular season for proof.Follow @LeviDamien ALAMEDA, Calif. (AP) — Jon Gruden and Mike Mayock were invited by Oakland Raiders owner Mark Davis for an event in Las Vegas last week, a year before the team’s planned move to Sin City. The Raiders coach and general manager were set for a night on the town with their wives when those plans got altered with the news that the NFL’s most prolific receiver, Antonio Brown, was available from Pittsburgh.Just 24 hours later, Mayock had completed his first major move since leaving his old role as television draft analyst to join an NFL front office and all those plans the Raiders had made were overturned.“The wild card was all of a sudden understanding that this guy might be available,” Mayock said this week. “That was the wild card. That was not in our free agent planning. When all of a sudden we realized we might have an opportunity to compete for his services, it changed everything.”The Raiders seemed poised for a rebuilding year after dealing away foundation pieces Khalil Mack and Amari Cooper last year in trades that netted three additional first-round picks the next two years. But the trade for Brown set them up to begin a spending spree that the Raiders hope can make them a contender in their final season in Oakland before the move to the desert. The Raiders also gave big-ticket deals to free agent tackle Trent Brown, safety Lamarcus Joyner and receiver Tyrell Williams and have committed more than $200 million in contracts just six months after trading Mack to Chicago because they didn’t want to give him a mega-contract as the highest-paid defensive player in football.“We’ve gotten better, we have some resources in the draft that can continue that process and as I’ve said all along, I don’t think you can rush this,” Gruden said. “You have to do what you deem is right. Players don’t become available all the time. You can’t make all the necessary improvements. It takes a little bit of time. But we’re confident that we’re heading in the right direction.”At least the Raiders now appear to be moving forward after taking a significant step back in Gruden’s first season. The team never recovered from the deal reached a week before the opener that sent Mack to the Bears for a package that included two first-round picks after he held out in search of a lucrative long-term contract the Raiders weren’t willing to offer. After starting last season 1-5, Gruden then sent Cooper to Dallas for another first-round pick and the rebuild was on. Oakland finished 4-12 just two seasons after breaking through with 12 wins and the team’s only playoff berth since 2002.Plenty of holes remain on the roster even after this week’s big spending spree with the most glaring being at pass rusher where Mack has yet to be replaced. Oakland has only one edge rusher under contract for 2019 in Arden Key, who had just one sack as a rookie. The Raiders finished with a league-low 13 sacks last season — 17 fewer than the next-worst team. Oakland still would like to find an edge rusher in free agency and also figures to target that position the draft when the team has picks No. 4 Antonio Brown Raiders Jersey , 24, 27 and 35 in the first two rounds.Mayock and Gruden also are looking for more help in the secondary, a playmaking linebacker, and possible help on offense at tight end, running back and guard.Filling all those holes in the draft and the end of free agency seems far-fetched, but getting a good start on the task will give the fans in Oakland a more desirable product to watch this season and create excitement in Las Vegas for the team’s planned arrival in 2020.“There is a lot of history here, so I definitely wanted to come and be a part of the history and I also wanted to be a part of new beginnings,” said Joyner, who was attracted by the move. “Hopefully we do a lot of great things this year and make Nevada even more excited to have us.”The Raiders hope the move to Las Vegas, where they will play in a fancy new stadium rather than the rundown Coliseum and have a more modern facility, will make the team a wanted destination for free agents in the future.“The MMQB” listed Oakland as the second-least desirable team to join in free agency, ahead of only the Buffalo Bills, but that figures to change next season with the lack of a state tax in Nevada only making the location more desirable for players. But those factors won’t be as important in the future as Gruden and Mayock hitting on the draft picks to replenish the roster and make the team a contender once again.“I think the reason for me wanting to come here was to advance to Nevada with coach Gruden,” Joyner said. “I have come into contact with him throughout my career and he has always expressed to me how highly he thought of me as a player. When it comes to the state income taxes and stuff, that’s the kind of conversations you have with your wife and your kids, but that didn’t have anything to play into me wanting to join this great organization.”
